Field Trips

Fall is FIELD TRIP TIME at the farm!

Beans & Greens Farm is happy to host your school group, day care kids, or home school group for fun adventures on the farm!  Pre-design your field trip according to the list below and get on our schedule as soon as you can.  Field trip times can be 9:30, 11, 12:30, or later as needed.  Call the farm at 293-2853 to schedule with Martina.  Check out the pictures at the  bottom from some of our past groups!

Field trips can include all of or just some of the activities list below:

  • Exploring a section of the corn maze and answering grade-appropriate questions

  • petting and feeding the animals

  • Studying and learning about the observation beehive

  • feeding the fish in our watergarden

  • Wandering through the greenhouse hay maze

  • A picnic on our front lawn or lunch at the picnic tables in the Pavilion

  • Pumpkin picking!

  • A take-home coloring contest!

Most field trip groups opt to do the cornmaze. Depending on the age of the group, we’ll close off a section of the maze for the kids to “get lost” in. The whole cornmaze is far too large for us to open it for field trips….it would simply take too long. This smaller section of the maze has its own set of questions or trivia for the younger generations and is a great way to teach kids about corn!

The maze is a short wagon ride across the road from the farmstand. This year the pumpkin crop for children did not grow (too much rain in early spring)  We will have pumpkins available and will use other imaginative methods so your kids can still “pick” a pumpkin!

The most popular field trip includes:

Arrival and meeting with your farm friend at the Koi pond

Hayride out to the Corn maze

Selecting a sugar pumpkin….somewhere!

Feeding and petting the animals: pig, goats, calf, chickens, ducks

greenhouse haymaze adventure

Cost: $6.00 per child based on a minimum of 12 children

One adult for every 6 children is included at no extra charge.  Groups are welcome to bring a lunch or snack and enjoy it either in the front yard on the lawn or at the picnic tables in our new Pavilion.  In cases of inclement weather, there is a spot in a greenhouse available for snack/lunch.

Other additions available for an extra fee:

snack of cider and a cookie

cider donuts and milk

pumpkin painting

bag lunches
